Dr. Brian Dickinson, MD
Dr. Brian Dickinson received his undergraduate degree in neuroscience at Brown University. At Brown, Dr. Dickinson took a special interest in the study of peripheral nerves and study of the nervous system. He was inducted into the Sigma Xi science honor society and won the Merck Award for organic chemistry.
Dr. Dickinson was awarded his Doctor of Medicine degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. At Mount Sinai he was a gross anatomy teaching fellow, was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, and graduated at the top of his class. At Mount Sinai, Dr. Dickinson took a special interest into the study of surgery of the hand and upper extremity.
Upon completion of his medical degree, Dr. Dickinson entered the general surgery training and then plastic surgery training program at the University of California Los Angeles Medical Center. While at UCLA, Dr. Dickinson received the Plastic Surgery Division Research Award and scored in the 98th percentile on the plastic surgery in-service examination two years in a row.
Dr. Dickinson spent time in his post-graduate training doing a fellowship learning many techniques of aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery. Dr. Dickinson employs both aesthetic and reconstructive breast techniques to improve aesthetic outcomes in breast reconstruction following mastectomy as well as challenging secondary and revision aesthetic breast surgery.
Dr. Dickinson is Board Certified in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. Dickinson spent time learning principles of facial reconstruction, nasal reconstruction, as well as aesthetic rhinoplasty. Dr. Dickinson enjoys performing reconstructive surgery of the face and scalp in patients who have suffered trauma or cancer. Dr. Dickinson believes that the reconstructive and aesthetic surgical principles appropriately complement each other. That is facial trauma and cancer reconstruction experience can improve rhinoplasty and facelift results, while rhinoplasty and facelift experience can improve facial trauma and cancer reconstruction outcomes. Dr. Dickinson devotes time in his practice to facial reconstruction as well as rhinoplasty. Dr. Dickinson spent time in his post-graduate training learning techniques of rhinoplasty from plastic surgery leaders in rhinoplasty.
Dr. Dickinson currently operates in Newport Beach, Califonia where he performs microvascaular breast reconstruction, microvascular lower extremity reconstruction, microvascular scalp reconstruction, and is always available for facial fractures and hand trauma.
Dr. Dickinson has a very busy hand trauma practice where he performs microvascular and nerve repairs of the hand and upper extremity.
