There are a number of incision choices that patients can choose from with their breast augmentation procedure.
The more common being:
inframammary – made below the breast fold
areolar – made around the nipple
transaxillary – made under the arm (armpit)
Each incision choice has different advantages and typically, I let the patient choose their incision preference. The areolar and inframammary incisions are the most common incisions and allow the surgeon to more easily make changes to the base of the breast than the transaxillary incision.
